Holmes Junior College

Holmes Community College has four campuses located throughout central Mississippi. There is the Goodman Campus, the Grenada Center, the Ridgeland Campus, MS, and the Kosciuscko/Attala Education Center. These four locations make up the Holmes Community College family of campuses.

The Goodman Campus is the original campus for Holmes Community College. This location started out as a high school. In 1911 the town of Goodman donated 40 acres of land to establish Holmes County Agricultural High School.

Eleven years later the Mississippi state legislature made it legal for agricultural high schools to add two years of college courses. When the 1928-1929 school year came around they had become a full fledged junior college. The early beginnings of Holmes Community College started out as an agricultural high school, then became Holmes Junior College and in July of 1989 the name of the school had finally became what it is today, Holmes Community College. The campus is located in the eastern part of Holmes county and the administration buildings and offices are located here.

There are on campus dorms and student activities such as athletics, band, and choir are located here. The Grenada Center has been open since 1985 and was awarded the most distinguished chapter at the annual Phi Theta Kappa meeting in 2010. The Ridgeland Campus is celebrating it’s 25th anniversary and has the fastest growing enrollment of all the campus locations. The Kosciuscko/Attala Education Center joined the Holmes Community College family in August of 2007.

The number of students enrolled across the four campuses that are part of Holmes Community College is close to 7,000. Holmes is one of the fastest growing community colleges in the area.
